Windows Explorer and desktop appers to restart

Hello,

I am running windows XP with all updates.
Every so often, my desktop icons will dissapear and any
WONDOWS EXPLORER windows that are open or minimized will
shut down and be eliminated. Nothing else see,s to be
affected. The icons re-appear in a few seconds, but my
windows explorer panes never come back and need to be
manually re-opened. I've seen this on 2 computers running
XP.

Thanks for any help you can provide

Hi Dan

Same here on two machines. I also cannot close WORD
sometimes. I hope someone has an idea.
