When I click to open a lower level in Windows explorer I always get the
"Start Search " display instead of a file/folder list.
How can I stop this?

See if this helps:

Click Start | Run and type or copy/paste this command:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Click OK

I'm having the same problem, did you find a fix?

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll this did not work for me.
