when i start my comp it file windows\system32\config\system is corrupt or
missing tried recover and still nothing i do not have a problem redoing
everything but i want to recover at least my pics.

Try tapping the F8 key on startup, select safe mode, enter as administrator.
Or,boot to xp cd,select install xp,repair this copy, you loose only updates.

I'm haveing the sorta the same problem, even when I try to boot into safe
mode it kicks me with the same error.

Warning Do not use the procedure that is described in this article if
your computer has an OEM-installed operating system. The system hive on OEM
installations creates passwords and user accounts that did not exist
previously. If you use the procedure that is described in this article, you
may not be able to log back into the recovery console to restore the original
registry hives.

Trying to fix a dell with an OEM XP install. If at all possiable I need to
recover the files in my documents.

Before I go off and bork things further I was justing wondering if I should
be wary of the above warning.

Thankx for the help

Did you get this fixed? I have the same problem and the same goal (to save
my pics). I have tried to fix using recovery console as microsoft help said
to do, but it doesn't ask for a admin password and then when I try to type
commands it just says access denied.
