"Windows Error" box pop up

I recently started getting an error message:

Title: Windows error service
Message: Windows detected Spyware on your computer.
Download free spyware scanner & Remover.

Theres an OK and CANCEL button. I have always clicked on
cancel but it continued to come back. I have to click on
cancel three times to get it to go away but it comes back
every ten minutes. I also noticed that my notepad icon
had changed from the usual notepad icon to the generic
executable icon. I ran adaware and and spybot and it
stopped the box from appearing. I also ran AVG anti
virus and Norton anti virus and it removed all known
viruses. Everything was fine for about a day until I
recently tried to open notepad. I have found that when I
try to open notepad it acts like it is going to open and
the hourglass pointer comes up but then it stops and does
not open. The "windows error service" box started
popping up again so I ran my spyware removal software and
anti virus software and it stopped the box again. I
think that some how my notepad it causing some virus or
adware to install itself every time I try to open
notepad, could this be the problem? Does anyone know how
to fix this? I thought about deleting notepad and then
try to reinstall it but I dont have my Window XP Pro cd.

I know this is alot, can anyone help????
