Hello,

I have Windows XP Professional SP2, when try to defrag C: I found it fails
becasue windows.edb is to big, 3 GB.
I have some questions in this regards, is it normal this file size and
getting bigger? Can I delete it?, or run any tool to defrag this file?

Thanks.

This file is not a WINXP file and is likely a 'left-over' from the previous
OS (Win 98 WinMe). This file can be safely removed unless, in the unlikely
case, it is related to a program other than WinXP. The date on the file
should tell you whether or not it predates WINXP.

Hi Edward,

This laptop was preloaded from factory with this operating system, and this
windows.edb file seems to be updated or used everyday when it is turned on,
as date file always has the current date but time is the time machine was
turned on.
Is it possible this windows.edb be part od Office 2007, it was installed but
I removed it as it made system run slow?

Thanks.
