Windows drops contact with network card

Win XP SP2, cable modem to LAN. Has worked correctly for years but for a
couple of months I often get the message that there is no contact with
the net. ISP provider can see my network card and when I run "repair
network" the connection is established again. This often happens after
reboot and also when I restart from hibernate, sometimes even during
normal activities on internet. Suggestions would be most appreciated.

Are you saying that the problem is present when you reboot? Is the only
solution to "repair connection"?

I'd check for a drivers update, from the vendor.

And look at your DNS service. If the primary DNS server is flaky, and the
secondary is not working at all, you'll get this problem.

Then look for an LSP / Winsock problem. Note LSP / Winsock corruption does not
frequently cause intermittent problems like yours, so I put this at the bottom.
