Hey, I was just trying to figure out why Windows thinks I
have a dual processor when I only have one...

Because you have a Intel P4 with hyperthreading.

Do you have an Intel P4 CPU? Some P4s support "hyperthreading", where a
single physical CPU shows up as two logical ones. The P4 3.06 GHz (533 MHz
front side bus) supports hyperthreading, and I believe that all of the 800
MHz FSB "Northwood" CPUs do as well. I think that most of the Prescott CPUs
also support it, but I have no direct experience with them.

A question I can't answer is whether hyperthreading is useful. I suspect its
utility is limited, or AMD would be hurrying to incorporate it in their
products. (I"ve used only Intel CPUs myself, so far.)
