Windows Delayed Write Failed ? In Windows XP with a 80GB WD external disk

I have 2 internal disks and 1 external hard disk with Windows XP, SP1.

All systems work, yet quite often the message comes up:

"Windows Delayed Write Failed"

And it comes up again and again.Yet I can back up all things to that external disk and restore from it.

How can I stop it from constantly displaying this message?
