And another succesfull update ! seems like its functioning at last after
three months of persistant problems ! Whilst I can't speak for its
efficiency, it has reacted to some spywares ! but not all ? I think having
given it a fair test ! I'll un-install and use another anti spyware ! if only
because I dislike its updates confined to the MS system, unlike the original
beta 1.

Can you say more about what you dislike about the update system? Feedback
is definitely welcome--personally, I like the system pretty well.

I find the inconvenience of th MS updating is that left on auto it will
update for sure, howevr correct me if I'm wrong ! but not without, letting
other windows priority updates do so as well. Whilst these are less frequent,
I prefer to supervise
which to install and when, plus of course often having to close everything
down for a restart!
This I understand will not be the case with Vista ?
Certainly I could creat a schedule, but my computers are not on line 24 hrs
and rarely for the same set periods everyday,
making timed planning difficult !

The advantage of the previous beta 1 system was like my anti-virus it would
update without interuption, to any other process in course!

Windows Defender for Vista yes but as an add on for XP I still prefer the
Beta 1, unfortunatly that choice isn't available.

Thanks - I think that's clear. Some other users have expressed a preference
for a priority system which would allow Windows Defender definitions to
auto-install, but not others. This seems a bit complex to describe (set
your auto-update to "tell me about updates but do not install them, except
for anti-malware updates, which should be installed immediately if not
sooner...")--but I can definitely see the point.
