Windows Defender

I can't get Windows Defender to aoto-start when I boot the computer so that
I have real time protection. I was able to do when I first installed Vista
but after doing sytem restore after I installed sevice pack 1. I can get it
to run by putting a shortcut in the startup folder, but it opens the Defender
window and I need to close it every time I boot and that becomes annoying. I
wanted to try to uninstall it and reinstall it but I can't do that either.

Hello DragoIII,

There are a couple of things to try, start with this:

For Defender look in Task Manager for running tasks:
MSASCui.exe
MsMpEng.exe

and look in Services for:
Windows Defender as being Started

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.
