windows defender

I am having a problem installing updates for windows defender.When I tried to
updates defender it told me that defender was updated but in my bottom right
hand corner is windows defender with an orange exclamation mark telling me my
updates are 56 days old.Does anyone have any info on this?Thanks

I guess I shoulg have mentioned that before.Yes,when I go to microsoft update
i get the message for an update.I downloaded it and it was successfuly
applied.But defender is still prompting me to update.When I went back to
windows update,the download again was there for me to download
