Windows Defender updates?

Hi all,

I did try to post this question to another group but couldn't get there.
And many times when I try to post a question I get a small "hand" with a
yellow exclamation point. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Anyway, I'm using three different Spyware programs on my laptop. I use
Windows Defender, Spyware Doctor and Super Anti-spyware software. I keep the
last two inactive, but there, when I want to use them.

My question is----Spyware Doctor and Super Anti-spyware have new updates
available nearly every day. But I can go for days without seeing new updates
for Defender. I do check, manually, for updates to Defender but otherwise,
are the only updates for Defender issued when my regular Windows Update kicks
in at the end of the week? Thanks for any info.

And if Defender only gets updated once a week, doesn't that leave my
computer open to get more, new spyware? Thank you.

It's all relative.
I use Spybot Search & Destroy.
It isn't updated daily, but it seems to work fine.

If you take a look at your installed updates I think you'll find WD updates
automatically.
