After this update an error 'Windows Defender encountered an error:
0x80004003. Invalid pointer' occurs if 'Start Scan' is selected on the
'home'
page.
If 'Scan' is selected from the top menu - no problem and scan proceeds.
I don't see the words 'Start Scan' on the Windows Defender home page.
I do have the menu item 'Scan' at the top of the screen, as you mentioned.
Regardless, this morning's update went without a hitch. Just ran a quick
scan with no error messages.
You are right - the words 'Start Scan' have gone. Must have been something to
do with the update to the prog. They have been removed. Well. at least I
can't get that error message now !! I still haven't seen Defender find
anything - even though Xoftspy finds the odd 'funnee' stuff.
Thanks All - Everything seems OK now. We will have to wait and see what
happens with future updates. Generally it's all going in the right direction
- attempting to foil the 'fiddlers'. Hehe!
