Windows Defender New Engine

Have or has enyone posting here run into this ine yet? I certaiinly fid this
strange and hope the moderator passes it on to the engineers.

I have gone to the Windows update site and downloaded the 1.41.x upgrade 32
times. My nightly WUS has downloaded it another 30+ times, and then Windows
Defenders own Updater, which piggybacks off of my current redistributable X86
MSI installer (WUS) in XP has also done ot a few dozen times also.

I know what is happening, but does anyone else? (This is for the new and
upcoming test takers)!

Here is part of the answer why I and maybe others are encountering this and
it is only one answer out of 4 possiblities. I have used almost 100% of the
latest >NET scripts/Add Ons/Tools and other .ASP/MOM/JSP etc. My point and
experience is this.

1: A few of the .NET scripts when improperly compiled/configured, will
block the script which updates the Hive (aka) Registry.
2: The tools section: There are two ceanup tools offered to the public from
Microsoft that will wipe clen your "Most Recently Used" documents, lists,
things like system scripts, resore settingd and/or point, which are hidden
under the guise of a /log, .mso, .mst, .tmp and so on.
3: A less experenced user may think it is ok to remove a few hundered KB of
..tmp and .log files without expecting trouble later.

NAH, wrong line of thought. When the install program looks for these logs
and/or temporary files, they are looking for information as to where, when,
the path and other data that was used in those file and if you have just
erased the way windows uses to update some of itself.

My advise is read amd subscribe to the emails offered by Tech Net, MSDN, and
of course, the Security Update bulletins offered at www.microsoft.com. Those
are the places where programs like Windows Defender start their roots, plus
the add ons and snap ins let you build a lot of your own security devices,
cleaners, tools, you name it, Microsoft offers it in many places. As a plus
you can use this info and tools to obtain a LOT of insight to just how
programs work.

Check in Help, about and compare to what is below. The engine updates come
in automatically along with the definition updates--typically, you need do
nothing at all--it just works.

Glad to be of assistance. Did that original post have any lasting impact to
anyone in this tread? What I am asking is, are you taking the online courses
too? Are ypu using or have used any of the .NET stuff to fix, watch and/or
play with them?
