Windows Defender is not running nightly

I installed Windows Defender (Beta 2) and since I installed it, it has not
scanned nightly. The only way I can get it to scan is if I do it amnually.
I let all the defaults be set to what was recommended.

Hi Tim,

is the computer running at that moment?
Set it to a time that comes up at the moment and see of the scan takes
place.

Hello Tim,

Is the Task Scheduler disabled under services?

Microsoft Antispyware schedules as a hidden task using the Windows
Scheduled tasks facility--so Task Scheduler needs to be availªble.

Scheduled scans are done via the Windows Scheduled tasks facility.

Go to Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Scheduled tasks.

In the menu at the top, choose Advanced, and View hidden tasks.

You should see an entry for MP Scheduled Scan. If you right click this
entry, and choose to run it--what happens?

For the benefit of the community reading this post, please rate the pºsts.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

In addition to Tom Emmelot and Engel's excellent posts, can I ask what OS
this is running on?

In checking your posting to another question, I found the Task Scheduler and
this specific task. When I clicked it to "run", nothing happened.

Nothing visible may happen. The task should switch to running status for a
period of time, and should complete, with a completion code. Also under
Advanced is a log--there should be a set of log entries for the task. In
the System Events log (properties of my computer, event logs, system--there
should be another pair of entries for the task, with source WinDefend. And,
at the bottom of the home page of Windows Defender, the date and time of the
last scan should change.
