Opened up a case with Microsoft support and Dell Support and no one knows
where SDDMI2 is coming from. I do not have any referance of the module or
program on my pc's. It is happening on two of my computers both are Dell one
is a Desktop the other a Laptop.

We have done various steps to resolve this. Uninstall/reinstall defender.
Safe mode connect to a microsoft saftey site and run virus scan no errors.
Uninstalled px engine reinstalled it. etc etc.

Anyone else seen this?

I am waiting on second level support to contact me

As far as I know, the SDDMI2 driver and service are related to the Dell
Support Utility 3.1 that is installed on Dell PC's. I found that out because
my Dell Support program was damaged when I installed the AOL Computer Check
UP. Then I has error messages in Event Viewer that that service could not be
started because the file could not be found. The AOL tool has deleted the
driver. I uninstalled Dell Support and the messages stopped entirely. When
I reinstalled Dell Support, the messages started again, saying that the
service has been started successfully. I don't know why Dell isn't telling
you this. They are living in the Nile. Look! I just this very minute ran a
Dell Support scan and went straight to my Event Viewer:

A quick search on Google turned up a 5-starsupport entry
(http://www.5starsupport.com/xp-faq/1-60.htm) identifying the driver as
Dell's. I find it deliciously ironic that Dell support is clue-impaired
regarding their own blasted drivers. Ya just can't get good help in Bombay
these days. ;-)

Thanks but that is not the problem here. We found that Dells 3.1 Support
program is causing the problem. But noone at Dell knows anything about the
program. Bombay needs to not be on the support call list. It is a shame that
we have to resort to cheap labor and then we can not understand a word they
say. I am waiting on a call from the esculation eam at Dell I wonder where
they are from?

I can recreate the problem anytime by just doing a Check Now on the Dell 3.1
Support program. All I want is to find out what proram is envoking SSDMI2 and
then I can exclude it from Defender

Dell needs to re think thier Support Options

LOL.

Yeah, such as moving it to Dusseldorf or Tokyo. The quality of support
would rise ... unfortunately, they would still have the communicative skill
factor to resolve. ;-)

The story continues, after i finally found out that the program causing the
problem is Dell's "Dell Support 3.1" program. When ever it runs or you invoke
it the errors occur. I call Dell and got the foriegn exchange ha ha and they
have no clue as usual. But I finally got someone to listen and now I am
waiting on they expert team

It is amazing that no one understands how to resolve this one especially
since it is on every Dell computer running WOC and Defender.

Hopefully Dell Expert Team can figure this out.

Will post any new developments.
