Windows Defender damaged attempts to repair unsuccessful

Steve O'Neill

Yesterday a message popped up that said the laptop was not protected. A
check of the system revealed the fire wall was not on. I turned it on and
rebooted. There were probably other keystrokes but I don't remember what
they were.

After rebooting a message came up "0x800106ba" that said Windows Defender
was damaged and needed repair. The WLAN assistant is also disabled Attempts
to fix the problem didn't work Apparently because this lap top is a 64 bit
system. Somehow the wireless doesn't work now. How do I regain wireless
internet access?

Other system information:
HP DV6 Notebook
Intel core duo CPU Mobile 4 series express 64 Bit
