Windows Defender (Beta 2) Will NOT Download

I've attempted for a few MONTHS to download Windows Defender (Beta 2), but it
will not download.

I go through the complete Genuine Product verification, click on the
download button for WD Beta 2, and the download begins, however the download
ALWAYS hangs-up at 89% and will not go any further.

I've reported this to Microsoft several times with the same reply, "Sorry,
this is a Beta product, and we provide NO support for Beta products."

These symptoms are reported here occasionally as well. There are several
possibilities--one would be local intereference on your system by and
antivirus or some "download accelerator" software--not likely, I think.
However, you can try turning off real-time protection in your antivirus
while doing the download. And ditto for any accelerator or other
download-"helper" software you might have. Please remember to turn the
antivirus back on!

Another would be a caching server at your Internet Service provider, with a
bad copy of the file--this seems more likely, but we've never been able to
confirm it.

Do you have an alternative Internet Service Provider you could attempt to
download via? Do you have a friend or an office somewhere that might allow
you to download and burn the file to a CD or a USB key? The file is a bit
under 6 megabytes, so it doesn't fit on a floppy.

Alternatively, if you have a reliable friend with whom you can communicate
via an Instant Messenger program, perhaps they could do the download for you
and send you the file via Messenger?

Did you ever get this problem solved? I have the same problem exactly,
except I only get 85% of the file before it stops. Engel has tried to help
me and we did everything short of installing VISTA but still no help.
