Windows Contacts -- Am I missing something??

I have several distribution lists under Outlook 2000 which I manage nicely by
using subfolders under Outlook Contacts. Under Vista, everything (including
Outlook, which I had to install in "compatibility mode") uses Windows
Contacts, which doesn't seem to provide a decent way of managing multiple
overlapping distribution lists.

Example: I have a list of customers which I want to keep in Contacts folder
Customers, and a list of club members which I want to keep in Contacts folder
ClubMembers. Some people are in both lists. I manage these lists using
Excel, and export .csv files containing complete new lists. I want to
repopulate the Customers folder by importing from the Customers.csv file, but
Windows dumps the new list into the primary Contacts folder, giving me no
option to import to the subfolder. So I do the import, then have to select
all and move to the subfolder. Now I want to import the ClubMembers.csv
file. Again, I can only import it to the main Contacts folder. AND ALSO, if
a person already in the Customers folder is in my ClubMembers file, I only
get to choose to not import the new name or to overwrite the previously
imported name. Either scenario requires special effort to keep track of
these special cases and then later copy specific contacts from one subfolder
to another.

I thought I might use an alternate field to help keep things straight, but
it appears that Windows Contacts does't display any fields in its "Details"
listing except name, email, phone number. For example, if I View > Choose
Details and ask to see Home Address I get a column in details view titled
Home Address, but no data listed under that column.

Is Windows Contacts really that ugly, or am I missing something?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
