Windows Complete Restore--HUH???

J

Jeff

Hi,
I thought I'd test Windows Complete Restore.
Followed the directions; and when I tried doing exactly what it says; the
repair;in the install disc;said that it could not find backup files;on the
DVD's that I had just burnt; using Windows Complete Restore wizard.
any suggestions?

Jeff - "RTFM" (Read The Friendly Manual) - Vista Ultimate includes a backup
and restore function - after you do a complete backup the restore function
looks for the backup to restore.

Umm,
Are ya missing my point? I did exactly what it said.
a.. When you restore your computer from a system image backup, it is a
complete restoration. You can't choose individual items to restore, and all
of your current programs, system settings, and files are replaced.

Before starting, make sure that the removable media on which your backup
is stored is available, if applicable.

1.. Insert the system image backup DVD into a DVD drive on your computer,
or if the backup is on an external drive, connect the external drive to your
computer.

2.. Turn on the computer and press F8 while the computer is starting up.

This will open the Windows Recovery Environment.

3.. Click Windows System Image Backup, and then follow the instructions.

4.. Doesn't see my dvd's

Jeff - Sorry I misunderstood - you stated in original post "that it could
not find backup files;on the DVD's that I had just burnt...."
In you second post you stated "Doesn't see my dvd's".

The first implies the DVDs are "seen" - but files are not.

Do you have backup on multiple DVDs by any chance?

If yes then you need to insert the last DVD first and then before a restore
happens the Complete PC Restore will ask you to insert the first DVD.

Varun,
Thanks,
but this was resolved weeks back.
at the time of my post; it wasn't clear in the instructions;in the beta
build of the time-fixed now.
But thanks for trying
:).
