Can someone who is using "Windows Classic Style" desktop and "Classic" start
menu please answer this question for me. When I select Start/Turn Off
Computer the "Turn Off Computer" window appears and my monitor display fades
to grey within about five seconds if I do not select one of the three
options.. I don't remember that the display faded to grey before yesterday.
Maybe I never left the "Turn Off Computer" window on long enough before...or
maybe my mind is fading to grey. It's not causing any problem, I'd just like
to know if it's changed or if I didn't notice this "feature" before .

Thanks,
Milt

Me to I think it is a "quirky" feature MS have added to
enhance viewing pleasure!

The fade happens with classic view or xp style view. I think it does it to
give windows a few seconds to close services and unload the registry
keys/open programs from memory, before it actually shuts down.

You didn't notice it .. it's been that way all along (in XP .. Win2k
never did that nonsense). Yet another example of MS programming pretty
but useless effects, while providing a miserable 'search' facility and a
broken systray. (rant, rant).
