Windows can't boot up

Dear All,

I have a notebook and when bootup it show the message:

Windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows
Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

Please may I know how do I solve the problem?

Install xp cd,restart computer, adjust BIOS to boot to cd drive if needed,
usually by the exit tab, then boot to cd,R for recovery, press enter key for
password, then at cmd screen type:BOOTCFG /? That gets you the menu.
Before you might try search at microsoft,type:314058 For the list, you'll
probably want to type:bootcfg /rebuild
