Windows cannot open template file

Hello,
I have this problem that is almost killing me. I recently edited a setting in my Default Domain Controller policy and all of a sudden, when i try to open security settings (in the default DC policy) i get the message "windows cannot open template file". this is a disaster, please help if you can.
