When I click to open a web page I get the message that" windows cannot find
xxxxx address", but the page opens anyway. Everything works but it's just an
irritation.
I have Vista and use Foxfire. Thanks

In your quick launch group in the taskbar, right click Internet Explorer and
click 'Run as Administrator'. Try launching the site again.

For a start, it is Firefox, not Foxfire.
Make it the default browser then!!!!!

On the one hand it obviously is the default browser however this is a
known problem with Firefox.

Try this:

To workaround this problem, go to Start -> Default Programs -> Set
default programs for this computer, Select Firefox, Choose defaults for
this program, select all (probably are already!), Save.

Don't bother I spoke too soon. There was a registry edit that would
work on XP (until the next update) but I don't know of anything for
Vista. The only other idea would be to keep Firefox open and minimised.

The page loads fine but I get a false error message from Windows before it loads. The message comes before the web page has time to load.
Maybe I should quit using Foxfire especially since I get the name wrong.

It would help if you gave the address that couldn't be found. Is it the same
page/site or different pages/sites. Does IE do the same thing?

Having said all that I have shut down, gone out, come home and restarted
and it seems to be OK now, so might be worth a try.
