Windows cannot connect to printer

We have several XP workstations that are having problems connecting to
networked printers. It doesn't matter if they are HP or Sharp printers in our
case. When you try to add the printer and type in the server name and then
the printer share, the error pops up. We've ruled out FW, AntiVirus
etc....I've also tried another user on the same workstations with the same
error popping up. We have other users on their own workstations can connect
to the server and the shared printer with no issue, delete the printer and
re-add it. The trouble machine can also connect to the server for a shared
directory with files. I've seen in my research that this could be a registry
issue, however no fix provided or the sites to which pointed no longer exist.
Does anyone have any ideas?

TIA,
Noel

The exact error is Windows cannot connect to the printer. "Either the printer
name was typed incorrectly, or the specified pritner has lost its connection
to the server. For more information, click Help."

Which operating system(s) are the Servers running? Are the printers
connected directly to the Servers or to the LAN or to Print Servers? More
info needed.

Server is running 2003. The printers are all configured with their drivers
on the server, and the workstations print to them thru the LAN.

I tried this and made sure to do step #4 and I still get the same error
message when I try to add the printer. There is no software installed to the
Laptop, no drivers, and no printer, but still get the same error when trying
to add the printer.
