Windows calculator keeps opening up (Win XP).

For some reason, the calculator program (calc.exe) keeps opening up
repeatedly even after I close it. I thought initially that it would be due to
a trojan, but after trying anti virus, anti spyware, and anti trojan
software, I am convinced that it is not. I am completely fed up, and don't
know what to do.

For your information, I have Windows XP (Home) with SP2 installed.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have a Keyboard with a Calculator button? Sounds like this key may be
stuck and causing the Calculator to repeatedly open.

If you cannot correct the Calculator button on the keyboard, you could edit
the registry here and see if it stops the calculator from loading.

[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AppKey\18]
Double-click "ShellExecute" and change "calc.exe" to "calc.bak".

If this solution works for you then you should consider purchasing a
keyboard and change the registry value back to "calc.exe" after the
purchase.

What I meant was that calculator keeps running a new instance every few
minutes. The problem is not the stuck key as you suggested. Is there
something else that could be a problem?

Is there a way I can actually block a program from running at all? I could
do without the calculator program really.

Thanks for your help.
