Windows automatically creates a modem connection

Hi,

I am having the following problem. While I am using windows, my modem
suddenly starts to dial to some unknown number. After checking my network
connections, I see a new modem connection has been added with the name
"ENTER" and the phone number 5. Removing this connection has no effect since
after a while, it is recreated and the modem starts dialing again.

I have scanned my entire computer using Norton Antivirus and it found no
infections. I also tried removing spyware using SpyBot and Ad-Aware, to no
avail.

Can anyone help?
Regards,
Rudy

Hi Rudy,
What the new Modem Manufacturer and the modem you use as the default for
connection?.
Try to disable the offensive Modem in the Device Manager and see if that
will help to narrow down the problem.
Also asign the offensive modem to be blocked by Norton, you may have two
modems installed one Ext and other Internal for some reason.
HTH
please let us know your findings.

The new modem manufacturer? A new modem CONNECTION has been automatically
added, not a new modem. The modem I am using is a Conexant SmartHSDFi V.9x
56 Speakerphone PCI modem.
Try to disable the offensive Modem in the Device Manager and see if that
will help to narrow down the problem.

I only have one modem installed.

Hi Rudy,

Go into Internet Options or Internet Properties by right-clicking on
Internet Explorer and clicking Internet Properties. Click on Connections.
Dot Never dial a connection. Click Apply then OK.
