Windows Automatic Updates

How do I get rid of the Update icon that continues to notify me about an
update I have said I do not want? I keep checking the box "Don't notify me
of this update again", but the icon keeps coming back to tell me about the
update. I have my Automatic Updates set to "notify me about updates, but
don't install"
 
Stop the Automatic Updates service by going to Start, Run and typing in

net stop wuauserv

Click OK
Show hidden files, folders, and system files :
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

Navigate to WINDOWS\Sofware Distribution
Delete the contents of the DataStore, Download, and EventCache folders.

*** NOTE: This will erase the update history ***

Close the window.
Go back to Start, Run, and type in

net start wuauserv

Click OK
