Windows Activation

Does anyone know how to activate a copy of Windows that has already been
activated?
I purchased a copy of Windows XP Home, installed and activated it several
months ago. Since then, that particular computer had a "hissy fit" and I had
to reformat the hard-drive and reinstall Windows. I've just gone to activate
it again (because it keeps insisting that I do it!) and it won't allow me to
do it, stating that the product has already been installed and activated
previously. It's on the same machine but on a reformatted hard-drive.

Does anyone know how I can stop it asking me to reactivate it again when it
won't acually let me do it?

Many thanks in advance
Maddie
