Hello:

I have a computer at work that has been activated and legal since it was
built in 2003. The copy of windows was purchased from a reputable dealer.

I have no issues at all going throught the windows validation process on
line. As a matter of fact I have went through it twice on windows updates
and a couple of times to download extra programs.

However I noticed in my Event Logs that I have received the following
warning several times.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Windows Product Activation
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1005
Date: 4/30/2006
Time: 2:58:17 AM
User: N/A
Computer: MAIN
Description:
Your Windows product has not been activated with Microsoft yet. Please use
the Product Activation Wizard within 30 days.

How can this be when I have been using the computer almost 3 years. Also it
don't come up all the time only sometimes and it started July 2005.

Frequency:
July 2005 Once
Aug 2005 Twice
Oct 2005 Once
Nov 2005 Once
Mar 2006 Twice
Apr 2006 Three times.

This just don't make any sense to me why I would get this message. Could it
somehow be doing this on a error of sorts or could it be that those are the
days I check Windows Updates and I get the error because I am still on
Service Pack 1 on this computer?

I know I know I need SP2 and this is the only machine I use that is still on
SP1 but I is running a program that is not supported by SP2 and I am not
willing to spend several hundred dollars to replace it when I will not be
needing the program by mid year and can then update this machine to SP2.

Thanks

I have been getting the same Warnings for over a year now. I just ignore
them. Well, that is not totally true, I usually swear out loud as I Clear
all Events in the Event Viewer. ;-)

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Windows Product Activation
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1005
Date: 1/7/2005

This happened around the time that I installed and then uninstalled SP2.

XP has been on this machine and activated since...

Original Install Date: 02/18/2004, 9:34:24 AM

Hope this helps. Let us know.
