Windows Activation Problems!!?

B

Ben

Hi,

I'm having some problems with my Windows XP Pro activation. About a month
ago I brought XP (from pc world) and installed it. At the time it asked me
to activate the product, which I did. However I recently installed a
download using windows update, which installed the genuine windows
validation tool. Now when I boot up I get a message saying "you must
activate windows before you can logon - do you want to activate now" If I
select no it logs off, if I select yes the product activation screen opens
up and says "your product is already active" when you click ok, you get
logged off again. There is no way to logon. I can't even re-activate is, as
I can't get into windows.

Anyone know how to sort this? Is there a way to deactivate then reactivate?
It's such a pain, I've legally brought the software, I don't expect to be
unable to use it!

Try repairing the registry entries for the .DLL files used by
activation:

Use Start- Run and enter the following text in the dialog box:
regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

Then do it again with the following text:
regsvr32.exe licdll.dll

Good luck
