I'm in the process of upgrading my computer from a P4
1.7GHz... to and AMD AthlonXP 2500+ and have been having
problems getting everything to work properly.

Kinda hard for me to explain, but I had my AMD system
working fine with my Chaintech motherboard... Windows XP
was originally activated for my p4 system (which I have
to say, I formatted regularly, and started fresh)... then
when I got the chaintech +2500 up and running, I
activated it under that... not satisfied with the board,
I got a new abit nf7-s, and I can't get my harddrive to
work... anyways... Rather than unmounting the cpu from my
Abit, i just put my p4 1.7 back together, and threw the
harddrive back in it... and the windows activation comes
up again, so I went to activate it...

And it says our records indicate this copy of windows has
been activated too many times or something to that
effect... What can I do? =/

Any help would be appreciated.

Take the phone option, and explain that you're having hardware problems,
but don't get into specifics, especially if your copy of XP is an OEM
copy, as MS considers changing the mobo being a totally new computer.
MS only allows XP to be install on the first computer it was originally
installed on, but the only way MS has of knowing exactly what hardware
you have changed is if you tell them yourself.

Simply follow the on-screen instructions to activate via
telephone. The call is toll-free and generally takes less than 5
minutes.

You have got to a point where it appears to the automatic system that
you are moving it to a different machine (even though that is in effect
back to the original one). Use the Activate over the phone option,
explain and read out a long number to be checked and exchanged for
another to type in
