I had to reinstall XP due to an infection of viruses and
a trojan and now it keeps asking for me to activate
windows and when you click on it it says that windows is
already activated click ok to exit. Please can someone
help, I called my OEM and they told me to do a complete
systme restore and I have done that and now it is doing
it again!

One restored by a restore disk from a major OEM Like Dell of HP is
probably handled differently and does not involve activation: What has
happened is that a program has been left to run at start by mistake,
giving the warning. Start - Run and run MSConfig.exe, look for a line
running wpabaln.exe and uncheck it

If you do not find that or want to go further, First make sure it looks
unactivated: delete (or better rename) the relevant files,
windows\system32\wpa.dbl and wpa.bak

Then run regedit.exe, open to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT
\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents

and in the right pane double click OOBETimer and very carefully *change*
just the first byte,

Now get on the net and go to
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Activate Windows
and use Activate on the Internet now - which should now work.

If that still says you are activated it certainly was handled the other
way and there is no action needed
