Had to use a restore CD on my mother's computer. She doesn't remember where her book is. Setup is locked into needing the Product Key and, guess what!, I cannot access the old version to write down the product key. Computer company went out of business so no help there. Any ideas?

Why would you post a Windows 98 question in a Windows 2000 newsgroup?

Yes, I know it's strange, but I cannot find any boards that cover windows98! I am hoping there is someone in the Windows2000 category that may have an answer on product keys, that very basic thing we all have to have for any windows product. I'm struggling to locate any help I can.

Try microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion or microsoft.public.win98.setup.

Hi,

http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

The Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder is a freeware utility that
retrieves your Product Key (cd key) used to install windows
from your registry. It has the options to copy the key to
clipboard, save it to a text file, or print it for safekeeping. It
works on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Server
2003, Office 97, and Office XP. This version is a quick update
to make it work with Windows Server 2003.
