i am doing a dual boot of 98se and xp. i reimaged my evo laptop. i started
the install of 98. for some reason the installation has froze at preparing
to install 98. its at 100% of that part but it is not moving on to
collecting user info. what should i do?

Have you now given up on wanting to play with the boot ini file, you have
started so many threads all basically the same thing I've lost track of
what you are trying to do <g>

i'm still playing with it. i'm also doing other stuff as well. nevermind on
the installation issue. i canceled it. took the drive out of the evo.
reformated it in another pc. put the drive back in the evo. then restarted
the installation. now its working properly. it was a partition address issue
or something like that, that was screwing up the installation.

Try the below link - I had to use it 2yrs ago after a disastrous dual boot
with XP and 98 done by a local comp shop.
Never again.

If you have 98 issues take them to the 98 newsgroup.

I would first post in microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion and welcome
to the club since I dual boot with 98SE and XP as well. I use Pro. for
the XP side. In your case, I would just format the 98SE installation
and start again since you are not very far into the process.

well, thats what i did. but i formated the disk in xp on another pc since
the 98se installation seems to fave formated the disk wrong. well anyways,
i'm done with 98 now. i only installed it to get certian stuff off of it so
that i could add them to xp.
