Windows 95 games on XP professional

Hi,

Just got a new PC with XP preinstalled. After a long day
at work I decided to relax with a few 'classic' games.
Unfortunately when going to install the first (Dungeon
Keeper) I was informed that I needed a version of Windows
95 or higher! I have also experienced similar problems
with Xcom - Apocalypse and others.

I have tried the compatability setting wth Xcom, but this
does not seem to work, and Dungeon Keeper wont even allow
me to install it to change the compatability settings!

Any ideas chaps?

Some games need to be installed using Compatibility Mode from the beginning,
i.e., insert CD and don't let it launch the install program, go to
Start/Run/Browse and go to the install.exe or setup.exe file on the root of
the CD and right-click that, select Properties/Compatibility and tell it to
emulate Windows 9x for the installation. Also pay attention to the display
properties and number of colors used.

When the install is complete, do the same settings again on the link you're
going to use to launch the game. Also, prior to running the game, make sure
you've got all the updates for the game installed. Some are vital to
running, even in Compatibility Mode on Windows XP.
