Windows 95/98 software not compatible with Windows XP??

N

Nick

I am trying to install a program that was initially
designed for Windows 95/98 on my machine that runs XP.
When I put the CD in the drive, I get a message that says
that the drive cannot read the disk, that it might not be
formatted for windows. I am certain the program is
designed for windows. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Is it a copy of a disk or is it the original CD that came with the game?

Have you tried installing it using the Compatability mode
wizard and choosing Win98? Generally though, programs
designed for Win95/98 most likely will not work on XP as
XP is a TOTALLY different OS. XP was written with the NT
kernel which Win95 programs for sure will not work on.
