Windows 7-to-XP communication

Harvey

Hi, I have a very basic question. Will a computer with Windows 7 installed on
it have any issues communicating with computers on the same wireless network
that have Windows XP or Vista as their operating systems?

I am aware that Windows 7 has what is called "XP Mode" but what I am also
wondering is: would a computer that has Windows 7 as it's OS have to have XP
Mode running in order to be able to communicate flawlessly with computers on
the same network that have XP nstalled on them?

Should I install Windows 7 on 1 computer as an experiment to see if it
communicates well with the other computers or can I just expect that it will?

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
Newbie

No

XP Mode is for running applications that work in XP but not in Windows 7

No receiving computer has no idea where the incoming message originated. It
does not know, nor can it know, what operating system, computer, or anything
else about the origin of the packet. Provenance of the data cannot be
determined by looking at the data itself.

As a matter of fact, this message is probably being read by one or two on a
Linux box after having passed through a half-dozen Unix mainframes.

So, to answer your question, there will be no difficulty regarding the
originating operating systems.

You might want the computers to all be using the same Workgroup name.
