Windows 2003 DC adding a additional ip address

Is there any problem adding an additional ip-address on a DC?
(the DC's have one network adapter, and I'll add the new address in TCP/IP
properties advanced)


I have 12 DC in the AD, Windows 2003. Two in the root domain and 10 in the
sub-domain where all the users and computers are.
We are moving ip addresses in our environment, from white ip-addresses
(131.x.x.x) to 10.x.x.x addresses. Two of the DC's are central DNS servers.
I want this two servers to respond on 10 addresses as well as the 131
addresses (the 131.x.x.x are going to be thier primary address and the
10.x.x.x are going to be secondary address).
I what to every computer that is moved over to the 10-net to use the
10.x.x.x for DNS on the DC's (and computers that is still on the 131.x.x.x
will use the DC's 131.x.x.x address).
And when all computers are moved over to the 10-net, we are going to change
addresses on the two DC's from the primary 131.x.x.x to the 10.x.x.x address
(the one that was secondary under the migration fas, the 131.x.x.x will be
removed totaly).

Adding the additional IP is OK for a temporary solution to changing IP
addresses. It amy cause some minor problems for clients, but after all the
clients are moved to the new subnet range and the 131.x.x.x is removed from
the DCs it should clear things up.
After you add the new addresses to the DC you should run netdiag /fix then
netdiag /test:dns /v to see if the new addresses are registered in DNS.
If the clients are registering in DNS when you change the addresses on the
clients run ipconfig /registerdns.
