When can't I install MS Office 2003 (only 1 disc) into Windows Vista? When I
try to install it, it says "error executing file e:\ office1. disc1
professional\setup.exe
the requested operation requires elevation" What does that mean?

downloaded any critcal updates from the website. I then put in the cd for
office 2003, it seems to be downloading but then I get the error messege.

My Bad. Second time today. Looking at your header as you posted it said Windows 2003 and obviously in the body of your post you said Office 2003. I took my answer from your header. Ignore my previous post and answer.

Now back to your issue. This is a Vista newsgroup dealing with the Vista Operating system.

This issue belongs to the Office newsgroups dealing with issues about Office Suites including Office 2003.
You will find a few of the groups listed below. Since you are using the awful Web interface to post then copy and paste the link into you browsers address bar to access the group.
Or you can and I suggest that you set up your newreder to access the newsgroups

Go to the Office 2003 disk in windows explorer and right click on the
setup.exe, then select run as administrator.

It seems like you need to run the Office installation with Administrative
privileges. Go to e:\ office1. disc1 professional, find a file called
"setup.exe", right-click on it and choose Run as Administrator.
