I am thinking of changing my Windows program. How good is
Windows 2000? Will it work well on my home computor? It
all functions better than my present Windows 98. What
would anyone suggest for me to change to? Please give me
input for my best options
thank you.

I am a big fan of Windows 2000 Professional. For me its the best operating
system going.

XP is total rubbish & I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, but that's my
opinion

Me personally are bypassing XP completely & will then get the current
operating system when it becomes available, but I wouldn't waste 1p on XP.
The packaging is better than the operating system & I have slated XP off to
Microsoft Dev UK/France & USA over the phone

DO NOT get XP - install Windows 2000

Windows 98 doesn't have any security, 2000 does.

Somewhere on the MSDN site, it says XP uses plain text passwords for logon
whereas, 2000 doesn't. Also, if someone runs the function LogonUser on XP,
its possible to get the password because the function succeeds. On Windows
2000, LogonUser fails because of security rights (needs SE_TCB_NAME (act as
part of the operating system)) & the passwords uses a one-way alogarithm &
another function, ZeroMemory to clear the password from memory

I hope this is enough to make your mind up
