Windows 2000 virus effect

My Norton anti-virus security software reports taht it has
identified the virus Trojan.Simccs in a file
WINNT\navpmc\navpmc.exe

It is unable to either correct the file or to quarantine
the file. How important is this file? Can I just delete
it? How do I obtain a non-infected copy and replace the
infected one?

Any advice or tips welcome.
