Subject: Windows 2000 taking a while to boot up
Date: Mon, 31 May 2004 19:41:05 -0700
My Windows2000 is taking a long time to shutdown or logoff.
Any reason for that ?
Thanks
-------------------
1. Shudown scripts or logoff scripts
2. Third-party applications taking a long time to close (check the Run
registry key to disable background applications that could be causing this)
3. Saving user profile changes
4. An issue with profile unloading:
Run the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service

This issue can also be troubleshooted by enabling USERENV logging:
1. Navigate in the registry to
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\
2. Create a REG_DWORD value called UserEnvDebugLevel with a data of
10002 in Hex
3. Logging information related to the user environment (logon to
logoff) will be stored here:
c:\winnt\debug\usermode\userenv.log
