Windows 2000 SP2 upgrade

My query relates to Microsoft Windows 2000. I am trying to upgrade Windows
2000 from SP2 to a higherlevel e.g. SP4 but continuously get an error
uninformative message which says " an error has occurred during installation"
..
I have checked your Knowledge Base but it does not have a related fix.

Can you assist me, please?

Try installing during a 'Safe Mode' boot. Check Event Viewer for errors.
Also look for errors in %systemroot%\Svcpack.log file.
