I am trying to install windows 2000 on an ibm thinkpad
390x. I have tried just about tried everything. I tried
upgrading the old operating system which was windows nt.4
and windows 2000 loads all the files and then just hangs.
saying it is starting windows 2000, but it never does. so
I ran fdisk and removed all the partitions reformated the
hard drive and tried reloading windows 2000 from a clean
boot and still ran into the same problem. "setup is
starting windows 2000" but it never starts. Why can't I
get windows 2000 to load on this Laptop. I have another
laptop that is identical to this one and did not have any
problem loading windows 2000 on it. Please Help. Please
respond in the newsgroup only. my virus scan seems not to
like anything from the microsoft site.

Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I'm
having the same problem. I tried everything and it doesn't
work. I have a Gateway Performance 750. I am upgrading
from Windows 98SE. I can't seem to figure out what the
problem is.
