I got a computer question...last night i did a windows
update and installed whatever updates I
needed...sometimes they prompted me for a restart but i
wanted to get them all updated and then do one restart at
the end...well since then my computer wont fully
start...it goes to where it says starting windows with a
status bar and goes half way through...then nothing.
after about 5 minutes..the windows music plays..but the
display doesnt change...any idea how to fix it? Please
email the address I listed to let me know what ya think.
Thanks!! PLEASE HELP!

Terry,

You can use the ERD, and full backup you make just before you did the all-in-one WU.
If you didn't have one, you can do Clean Install or an "inplace upgrade".
Short of that, you can try booting to Safe Mode and choose "Last Known Good configuration"
If that doesn't work, start in Safe Mode, and uninstall the hotpatches that you installed and then try to boot normally.
If that doesn't work, get a Win98se Boot Diskette, start the computer using it give the command
FDISK /MBR
That will restore your Master Boot Record.
Remove the boot disk that see if it boots normally.
If not boot to Safe Mode with a Command Prompt and at the commadn prompt type
SFC /SCANNOW
After, try to boot normally.
