My Windows 2000 Sp4 machine keeps rebooting on it's own.
It's not a thermal issue, as system is currently running
within norms for temp, etc.
CAnyone come cross this one before?

if you have eliminated the possibility of a virus/malware, then the problem
could possibly be a faulty power supply. is the server rebooting at
specified intervals or randomly? if it reboots at a specified time, such as
5 minutes after power on, then i would think that the processor was
overheating. however, since you said that the machine is not overheating, i
am thinking it may be a faulty/failing power supply. one indication of a
faulty/failing power supply could be weird errors and random, sporadic shut
downs/reboots. do you have a known-good power supply you can use to
troubleshoot?

Hope this helps.

Hi Mick,
A few questions
when did this all start?
can we identify in order, the last 5 errors in the system and application
log prior to the reboot?
what is your antivirus solution? what is your backup solution?

In "Control Panel">>>> "System Icon" >>>> "Advanced Tab">>>>>> "Recovery &
Startup Options"
Do you have "automatically restart" and debug set to "none"?

Please let us know...
