Windows 2000 Pro slow boot

After a major hardware upgrade (DFI Lanparty NFII mobo,
AMD 3200 CPU, ATI Radeon 9600 video), the system takes
about 2 minutes to boot. Half of this is at the second
status bar where it just sits there for about 50 seconds.
DFI tech support suggests the mobo doesn't like the hard
drive, but I've tried both an IBM deskstar and a WD800JB.
It acts the same with both drives.

Anyone have a suggestion as to how I can fix this, other
than getting a different mobo?

Thanks!

I would have thought more likely mis-matched hardware/driver for one or more
devices. Make sure you have the latest (and correct) Windows 2000 drivers
for your devices. (especially the drive controller)

The chipset is nforce2. I believe I have all the current
BIOS/IDE drivers installed. Should I be looking in the
IDE\ATAPI section of the device manager or elsewhere?
In IDE\ATAPI I see some advanced settings, but I am
hesitant to mess with any of that. Might lose
communication with the hard drive entirely!

I'll check the DFI site for more current driver sets now
and then. Maybe something will turn up. I think you are
right. Stuff like this is almost always a drive issue.

Thanks!
