Windows 2000 Pro Installation strangeness

I've got a T20 ThinkPad with Windows 2000 from my boss. The thing is that I
what to reinstall completely Windows 2000 Pro, but when boothing from the
CD, it's asking to put in the second installation floppy??? I have the 4
floppy, but no floppy drive. If I press ENTER, it ask again for the floppy,
if I press F3, it quit.

I tried copying the second floppy to a CD and put it in when asked, but it
just wait.... Sure I can start an installation while already booted, but it
won't let me erase the whole disk.

Any suggestion?

Thanks.

Maxime.

maybe yes maybe I am completely wrong but it sounds like your bios is the proble

go into the bios and find where IBM lists the cdrom options somewhere in there you will probably find it is making the cdrom your A: drive upon boot and look at the standard bios config section where the floppy drive is listed make sure it reads that there is none or not installed because if it says that it is a 1.44 floppy and you boot from win2kpro install cdrom it may only read 1.44mb and stop there since the bios told it that was the drive size really guessing here but it shouldn't hurt to turn off the floppy designation in the bios if you have no floppy drive in fact it should be off but if it is on then give it a tr

Thanks for the tips, but I have succeded in installing Windows 2000 this
weekends.

I had to reinstall using the recovery CD, that erase EVERY F%%$&? THINGS and
use all the 10 Go disk. Make me remember an HP we have at the office that
came already installed and with like 4 recovery CD and when trying to
install something else and seeing that it wasn't working, I called HP and
they just said something like: "...sorry, but your computer is made to be
used with the CD that were shiped with and Windows Me. You can try
installing something else, but it souldn't work and you 'll have absolutely
no support from us."

Since then, I vow never to buy HP computer again...

anyway, after the reinstallation I had to use partitionMagic to resize and
make new partition and then I started the installation of Windows 2000 from
Windows, rebooted, continued the installation and and just before the end,
it asked to put in the second installation disk???. So I had no choise but
to quit, I ejected the CD and rebooted... at my own surprise, Windows 2000
was installed.

Thanks again.
