Windows 2000 performance alerts

WHen setting alerts with actions to run a program, it will
never run the program. Trying on two different servers,
trying to run a .bat file to start paint.exe, send email,
anything. The .bat will run and work if manually
executed, but will not run when listed in the "run
specified program" box.

What am I doing wrong here?

Me again. Even a simple .bat file to copy a email into
the SMTP pickup folder will work when manually executed,
but not when specified in the Alert Manager.
